When the weather turns wild, the Goat Coat Shell has your goats covered—literally. Designed for cold, wet, and windy backcountry conditions, this ultra-durable and highly water-resistant shell is a must-have for any serious goat packer during shoulder seasons or snowy trips.
Made from tough ripstop fabric that’s so water-resistant it makes ducks jealous, the Goat Shell helps keep your goats warm and dry without adding bulk. It features double-reinforced attachment points for extra strength where it matters most and packs down to fit easily in your hand or side pocket—just one pound of trail-saving gear.
Even better? The shell doubles as a pannier and saddle cover when the rain rolls in. Available in three bold colors (green, blue, and red) and sizes to fit goats from 110 to 240+ lbs. If you don’t see your preferred size or color in stock, you can order now and join our production list—estimated fulfillment is 6–8 weeks for large coats.

These coats are great! Very lightweight and pack down small, so I can take them on any trip just in case of wind and rain. My goats spent all day and the following night in them on a recent trip when rain storms just kept rolling through the area, and they never shifted or rubbed or caused any other issues. They gave me the peace of mind I needed to get some sleep during a long rainy night knowing my goats would not get soaked if they weren’t sharing space under their tarp. Have not tried using them as pack covers yet but it’s nice to know I could!
For full cold-season protection, pair your Goat Coat Shell with our Reflective Neckbands for visibility in low light, a Pannier Goat Scale to keep your gear evenly balanced, and the Hardcore Pannier Set for rugged backcountry hauling. If you're just getting started, our Pack Goats 101 and Goat Mastery Course will set you up for success in any season.
