Feeding Baby Goats with a DIY Lambar

I want to show you how feeding baby goats with a DIY lambar is easy.  You can have a bunch of babies and keep your system of feeding babies really easy.  This bucket system is called a lambar and it works really great.  This has the capability to feed 10 babies at once.  We actually have tape on the bucket to help us know the levels of the milk.   We have babies about 12 to 14 days old and then there’s some that are over 3 weeks old. Ones that are over 3 weeks eat a lot faster so I’ll watch those and make sure they don’t fill themselves up too much. Because remember they can get a thing called overeating disorder where they actually get too full and that can be a really big problem.  So you do want to monitor that.  You don’t want them just to blow up.

The Lambar Bucket

Here is the bucket and you can see there’s nipples which are the best nipples for it and then there’s a straw that goes down to the bottom.  And then there is a little ball bearing in at the end of the tube. So the ball bearing allows it where they’re not sucking air in.  And it works also to where when they suck the milk up the hose they don’t have to work again to keep it up the hose. It won’t go back the other direction.  Really handy if you’re feeding a bunch of babies.  And I do recommend the main thing you need to watch is if you’re feeding different kinds of goats you don’t let some of them overeat.  Because overeating is is a problem or can be so you kind of have to just monitor them.I watch the goats feeding to make sure the older ones don’t push off the younger ones.  Also, I feel there bellies and make sure they don’t get to full.  After the goats are done feeding, cleaning is easy.

Where to Purchase Lambar Bucket

The Lambar bucket can be purchased through Caprine Supply.  The Small Caprine Feeder is great for Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf goats.  The Caprine Feeding Outfit system feeds up to 10 baby goats and comes with the frame and the bucket. For more information on raising baby goats, we encourage you to take our How To Raise A Baby Goat Course and join our GOAT Club membership.
