- 1-year-old goats: no pack saddles of any kind on. Focus on manners, walking fast, and having fun
- 2-year-old goats: 10-15% body weight: if your goat weighs 170-210lbs 20 lbs would be the carrying weight. Do not pack all day long
- 3-year-old goats: 75% packing of the day. Carry 25-35lbs
- Never teach a goat to give up
- Goats are tough
- Get to know them
- Super smart and herd dynamic
- Be kind to your goats
- Know their soreness
- Look for the squat position: put a saddle on and see their reaction
- If a goat breaks their leg let them limp out and fix
- If shooting is needed: shoot off trail, take the collar off, cut off identification, and skin it: that is the legal requirement
