A Bug Out Strategy with Pack Goats
[video_embed url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3sNoZ3f188″]If you want the ultimate bug out strategy I believe you need two pack goats and a milking doe. They will likely be the difference of surviving (even thriving) based on the forced length of stay. Caring for others such as your kids for example, pack goats may make a back country bug out strategy much more possible. Having two well bred pack goats will enable you to pack out with 50-70 lbs on each pack goat. The doe will likely carry about 25 lbs and be making you the most nutritious protein and fat source on the planet… goat milk! Most of my does are not only pack goat baby producers, but high production milkers, making over a gallon a day off of back country brouse!!! So that means you can carry in, just on your goats, around 100 lbs of gear and supplies and they can go anywhere you can go and they fend for themselves!!
Bug Out Strategy with Pack Goats: Benefits
Having the option to leave a trailhead and stay out for up to a couple months has huge advantages if things get dumb. A pack animal that takes care of itself, makes milk, carries in your food and gear is an enormous advantage. They make for a great pet, comfort you and are easy, affordable to keep.
Pack goats are easily trained and we have built an inclusive Pack Goat 101 course teaching you how to be a successful goat packer. We have courses on both milking as well as how to raise a baby goat. We also have all the equipment you’ll need and you can find that here. I do hundreds of miles in the back country every year and usually spend about 70 days a year in a sleeping bag. I pack out two to three deer and two to five elk a year and I bow hunt along with my goats.
