Equipment You Will Need for Late Season Goat Packing

Equipment You Will Need for Late Season Goat Packing

The equipment you will need for late season goat packing is a durable and adaptable tent, goat coats and high visibility neckbands for your goats.   It is fall season which means nice warm days but chilly evenings and freezing temperatures during the night when you are in the backcountry mountains.  There can be rain one minute, hail and blowing snow the next minute.

Safir Tentipi Tent

We highly recommend the Tentipi tent as part of your equipment you will need for late season goat packing due to its versatile design and durability under the most extreme conditions in the mountains.  The design includes standing room with accessory capabilities and ventilation to allow open fires and stoves inside for heating and cooking.  Along with a simple setup in mind, this tent is designed with durable materials to withstand the most extreme weather.

Another piece of equipment you will need for late season goat packing is the water resistant “goat coat”.  The goat coat, (goat shell) will keep your goats warm and dry and can double as a pannier cover.  When you are not using the goat coat, it folds up small enough to fit in your hand and in a pack.

The high visibility neck band is a must as part of your equipment you will need for late season goat packing.  Even if you are not hunting with your pack goats, it is essential to have this high visibility neck band to let hunters know your pack goat is not a game animal.  The blaze orange neck band has reflective webbing and Velcro which makes it easy to wrap around your goat’s neck.
